Laurentide Controls named one of Canada's Best Managed Companies

May 5, 2021

The company is listed as a member of the Platinum club

Deloitte, the accounting and consulting firm, recently announced the winners of the 2021 award program designed to recognize the top privately-owned Canadian companies with annual revenues over $25 million. This year’s companies attribute their success in a year of turbulence to clearly defined organizational purpose, fostering a remote work environment, and a clear focus on employee well-being, which has led them to overcome some of today’s most pressing challenges and remain competitive on the world stage.

"In what may be the most challenging year for Canadian businesses since the program’s inception, the 2021 Best Managed winners are a shining example of the importance of leadership, innovation, and resilience in the face of uncertainty," said Kari Lockhart, National Co-Leader of the Canada's Best Managed Companies program and Partner, Deloitte Private. "These companies should not only be extremely proud of this designation, but for their organizational grit, continued adaptability, and unwavering commitment to their people during a year when it was needed most."

Steve Dustin, Laurentide Control's president, declared that the company is proud to be among the best in the country. Members of the prestigious Platinum category are those who maintain the Best Managed title for at least seven consecutive years.

" This past year has brought challenges like no other, not only for companies but for people in general. Since our purpose is to help industry thrive in Eastern Canada, we actively support industries critical to society so that they can remain as competitive as possible in these unprecedented times.

We have remained focused on the safety of our employees, customers, suppliers, and communities. We have adopted best practices of social distancing, frequent disinfection of our facilities, strict health monitoring and travel restrictions. In accordance with local health policy or recommendations, we have also adopted work from home strategies where feasible to help reduce risk and break the cycle of infection. This has allowed us to remain successful and help our customers be successful as well," declared Mr. Dustin.

Another important factor in the success of this year’s winners is their commitment to the health and well-being of their people. By emphasizing employee health as a major priority over the past year, Best Managed companies are ensuring their people feel valued, which has long-lasting impacts on businesses. Likewise, by enabling a remote work environment and giving employees the confidence to feel safe, this year’s Best Managed Companies are rapidly adapting the way they communicate, empathize, and lead their people.

Being recognized as a top employer confirms that we have more than ever embodied a key Laurentide Controls value: People Matter.

For example, to help our team stay connected despite working from home, we created the We Care digital platform for employees and encouraged them to participate in remote yoga classes, have a coffee break chat or have a remote "happy hour". This platform also features a channel for company good news, remote work advice and a section on mental health and wellness.

While virtual tools have been essential in maintaining friendships and professional relationship, we are looking forward to meeting our colleagues in person, at our offices.

"We’re now starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, so let’s all continue our safe practices and get vaccinated so that we all get there as soon as possible," declared Mr. Dustin.
